Hey Ko, so I'm part of a couple of forums and one of my forums does monthly giveaways/contests for its members. It attracts many new members and also gives old members something to look forward to every month.  Is there any chance that Chit Chat 24/7 could do something like that? It doesn't even need to be anything big...like $5 Amazon Gift Certificates or a referral contest, etc. Thanks. That's the only feedback I have so far.

There sure will be. I already got few local sponsors to give away electronic products. So yes there will be giveaway each month. I can only guarantee the price will range between $5-$70 or if there's jackpot, a bit more, for most active posters. Also tracking devices for monthly stats for each member is implemented in the forum.

true but some people think referral contest is just a cunning and shrwed doing of the admin to pay less for advertising cost. So I dont want to be seen that way. You know. But then again I never tell anyone to actually go and pay for referrals They can just simply invite their friends heh?

Really? I am pretty sure that inviting friends is the best way for this forum if you want it to be a referral contest. Trust me, with a good prize, spreading the word is pretty easy.

yes. but like all referral contest, I have to make it require that the referred members make at least 5 posts to qualify as referrer. That way somewhat reduced spam and paid reffered ones.

You should take care while making referal contestes. You should look for active referals. Setting of minimum posts for referal is an amazing idea.

Thanks. I think so too. I have seen many "paid to signups" programs and they are just extremly low active conversion, so I believe minimum post setting will hopefully leave active members.

Lots of forums are doing that...for referrals making sure that referral actually posts something. Maybe set a minimum of 10 posts?

I'm thinking min 5-10 posts too and at the same time worried not many will join for "real" due to that But again its safer and legit way to decide on contest. So I'll sure set min. on posts for referred ones.

The good thing about this forum though is that you can chat on absolutely anything! I'm pretty sure 5-10 posts is nothing. Well, I'm kind of depressed at the moment.  I got banned from a forum apparently because I signed up using 2 usernames, which is absolute bs. One of my friends joined and we both live in Canada...so I have no idea how the admin thought we were using the same computer. They just said that the IP was under "Shaw Cable" which is dumb because Shaw Cable does like a million zillion homes and internet connections! Excuse me while I go off and take some deep breaths.

Yup! but this is my plan to benefit both party and activeness of this forum: (regardless of all referred post or just 1 post total posts needed for all) member X referred 10 people with minimum 10 posts required member X must have 10 times 10 posts. either by each posting 10 or just 1 posting 100 posts. if the ratio is lower, then calculation will be made to see how many can I tell the member has referred "active" by average.

I believe you can provide them proof my saying how long you have signed up there and wehn your friend signed up and give comparison to AOL service where its proxy browser has same IP.
